The trailer she nearly hit contains his horse, Midnight Rogue, who he believes will win the Kentucky Derby. May 08, Becky Claxon rated it it was amazing. She come across as childish. I tend to favor relationship driven novels about people who genuinely care for one another as opposed to those barbbara where the couple spend the book calling each other nasty names and then immediately hop in the sack.

Freethy’s protagonists have such depth of character and personal conflict that they come alive on the pages. She travels into a deeply conservative small town barbqra announces to strangers that she is there to find her father.
Yes, her probing questions and tantalizing ways could cause nothing but trouble — but sometimes a man needs a little trouble…. Katherine Whitfield never knew her father and lost her mother when she was only twelve. The author then surrounds them with a bunch of interesting secondary characters and places them in a setting so well described I felt I was there in the lush Kentucky countryside.
The heroine, who doesn’t know who her biological father is, finds a clue to his home town and his first initial – J. Zach and Katherine both led amazing lives, and that was before they met. It’s an attempt at conflict that never really pans out.
Freethy includes discussion questions for book groups. The story of Katherine trying to find her father and ending up finding a whole new life was surprisingly good and Zach’s cynical attitude to love is changed when he meets Katherine proving that there is somebody for everybody: Read, highlight, and take notes, across web, tablet, and phone. The narbara was predictable and happy and sometimes I just like to brabara these books.
I loved the setting: That’s why I enjoyed “Almost Home” so much.

An accident sets off a chain of events. Surely, that would have been the obvious thing to do – but of course, it would have led her to the truth too soon. Katherine never felt a part of the family, especially after her step-father remarried.
The mystery surrounding the main characters heritage played out throughout the story with a very satisfying ending.

She found what she wanted most and in the end so did he. Some of the characters in this one behaved as one would expect, her grandfather, Zach’s father and some of the town folks.
I liked this book a lot. After graduating from the University of California at Santa Barbara, she went into Public Relations, but soon discovered that writing was her true passion. This was a comfort read.

He flip flops between opening up to Katherine and shutting her out and I wanted him to make up his fucking mind. Barbara’s love of writing developed out of a love of reading. Until he meets “the one”, of course. A romance with depth of characters. Yes, her probing questions and tantalizing ways could cause nothing but trouble – but sometimes a man needs a little trouble Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account.
Growing up in an all-boy neighborhood, she spent quite a bit barbaraa time reading through her mother’s large library, many of which were romantic novels.

Loved the horse country setting, good idea for a story but way too much drama feethy me, felt rushed in places and too many side dramas along the way. Like my reread of The Sweetest Thing, a lot of my opinions have changed. Account Options Sign in.
