Niciun mesaj, nicio idee, nimic.

Sep 22, Oana M. Such a lively book! Although it is more than obvious that the novel is written as an exercise or as a manifesto in a very technical way, the subject is very dear to me. The story is very cute, fun but filled with life lessons at the same time.

The characters lack depth, but maybe this was a conscious choice of the author. Still, I’m glad that I have discovered a good piece of Romanian literature. May 22, Madalina Badin rated it it was calnescu. Si, inca o data, Calinescu mi-a demonstrat de ce il ador eu: Oct 29, Ioana Savin rated it it was amazing. Jan 11, Denisa rated it it was amazing. Un clasic romanesc care surprinde povestea de dragoste dintre doi tineri.

Mie personal, mi-a placut. Povestea in sine si stilul de scriere al autorului seamana foarte tare cu compozitia lui Mihail Drumes. Feb 17, Catalina rated it it was amazing.

I-as acorda cartii 2.

Dec 29, Realini rated it liked it. Cartea Nuntii by George Calinescu This is a light entertainment, with characters that are pleasant but not exceptionally deep.

In fact, the author seems to have made an exercise, trying to make a point with this book.

The idea was to demonstrate that a critic can write fiction. And fiction he wrote. George Calinescu was one of my favorite writers, when I was about 15 or I did not know many writers nuntji then, but I still hold Scrinul Negru, Bietul Ioanide and Enigma Otiliei on a par with many of Cartea Nuntii by George Calinescu This is a light entertainment, with characters that are pleasant but not exceptionally deep.

I did not know many writers back then, but I still hold Scrinul Negru, Bietul Ioanide and Enigma Otiliei on a par with many of the works of more famous, worldwide famous authors who have benefited from marketing and writing in English.

The contrary might be true. I do not think I am exaggerating, for I would not go as far as georeg say that Calinescu is on the same level with Proust, Joyce or Maugham. In fact, I could list Calinescu with the three of them, among my top favorites, if I had the same pleasure in reading any of them.

George Calinescu gives me the same pleasure with a second or third contingent of writers, some of the French authors of farce- Feydeau for instance is below George Calinescu on my reading list. And the same goes for Lope de Vega.

George Calinescu has been a controversial man. As critic he is considered cwlinescu of the best and as writer he is deservedly appreciated. His involvement in politics is a different matter. The intellectual made a pact with the devil, as it happened in Faust. But the great critic did not resume himself to a quiet life, away from the prison were those who opposed the communist regime were rotting.

The wonderful Literature teacher that I had in high school -used to tell stories about Calinescu and his way of talking.

Cartea nuntii: Roman

The critic had a habit of saying a few words in a grave tone and then others with a high pitch, making his discourse rather funny. In one anecdote, the critic, who was also a professor at the University, was talking about Eminescu in his class.

He is interrupted by someone higher in the hierarchy, a dean or something, who nevertheless was afraid calimescu the esteemed professor- the man closed cartex the door, as soon as he saw who was keeping the class. The reaction of Calinescu? Coming back to Cartea Nuntii- as stated in the beginning, I do not think it exceptional, but it is likeable.

George Calinescu, Cartea

It has a calinexcu romantic relationships and some critic of the views of society. Jim seems to be a nice guy, even if a bit shallow, geogge all the rest of the characters. Vera resembles Lolita in her purity, with the advantage of being much more than a teenager. After all, Lolita was what? Vera is eighteen, a perfect age, even if one where we do not exactly achieve complete sophistication, understanding of the world and complete serenity.
